Lansinoh SmartPump 2.0 Review

Okay so picking the right pump can be super intimidating. There’s so many options out there. And with this being my 3rd little babe, I thought it would be a fun idea to do a little review on one of my faves right now, the Lansinoh SmartPump 2.0.

In this post I’ll share what comes included with the pump, how to assemble it, how to use it, my favorite features and a fun little bonus tip for skipping the trouble of having to buy a hands free pumping bra and using what you have instead.

I’ve gone ahead and laid out everything in this post for you guys to go over and read. But for anyone who’d rather watch than read, you can watch the video below too ;)

First off I have to say this, I absolutely LOVE this pump. With this being my 3rd baby, I’ve owned a lot of pumps in my day and the SmartPump definitely takes the trophy for best pump I’ve ever owned.

I remember going back to work about 12 weeks after I had Allie. I was super nervous about how pumping at my job would all work. I was a new mom and terrified of this new venture I was on while trying to manage my career. When do I find time to pump? How often should I pump? How do I store my milk until I get back home? It was super overwhelming. (PS you can checkout THIS post for a good pumping schedule when going back to work)

The pump I used at work was horribly loud. I’m not exaggerating here when I say it sounded like a zombie walking around gasping for air every few seconds lol. I did have a hands free pumping bra but with how loud this pump was, there was no way I could pickup a quick call or pump during a phone conference meeting. I swear you could hear it throughout the entire office.

So I was really excited when I tried the SmartPump 2.0 and heard just a quiet little hum. I could definitely pump and jump on a call with this pump yay! Seriously, this makes my life a whole lot easier as a working mom.

Okay, now let’s jump right in.

What’s included with the pump?

Here’s a list of everything that came in the box:

1 Lansinoh® Smartpump 2.0 Double Electric Breast Pump unit

2 ComfortFit® flanges, Standard (25mm)

2 ComfortFit® flanges, Large (30.5mm)

2 flange bodies, diaphragms, and diaphragm caps

2 white valves (+2 extra)

2 breastmilk storage bottles (5oz)

2 bottle holders

2 breastmilk storage bottle lids 1 slow flow NaturalWave® nipple, cap, and collar

1 tubing and connector set

1 stylish tote bag

1 breastmilk cooler

1 ice pack

1 AC power adapter

1 pump manual

I was pleasantly surprised that this pump came with so much. It just literally comes with everything you’ll need as a pumping mom. No need to go out and buy anything extra, if you’ve already thought about thing you’ll need, chances are… it’s already included.

What I love most!

There’s a few things I want to mention right off the bat that I already love about this pump.

First, it came with a cute black tote to fit all your pump parts in. No need to worry about forgetting a part at home or loosing pieces. The last thing you want is to get to work, or your pumping location, and realize you’re missing a crucial part and now you can’t pump UGH! This is the absolute worst.

Everything fits in this little tote so you can just make sure everything is all packed in the tote everyday before you leave and easily carry it all with you.

Second, it comes with a mini cooler. Yes, you’re going to need one of these. The cooler also comes with it’s own little ice pack that you can freeze everynight before bed, plop it into your mini cooler before leaving for work and voila, you’ve got somewhere to store your breastmilk for the day.

Breastmilk can stay good stored in a mini cooler with an ice pack for up to 24 hours. So your milk will be just fine until you get home and can transfer it to the fridge or freezer.

Third, it comes with 2 bottle holders. This may not seem like a big deal, but trust me it is. I don’t know how many times I spilled freshly pumped milk on my desk because I accidentally knocked the bottle over. Worst. Feeling. Ever! (I definitely cried over spilled milk a few times)

The bottle holders keep your filled bottles stabilized so they can’t be easily knocked over. Just slide the bottle in the holder until you hear it click and you’re good to go.

Fourth, I was REALLY excited when I opened the box and saw that it had come with TWO different sets of flange sizes, 30.5mm and 25mm. Every pump I’ve ever owned has only ever come with one standard size.

Yes, flange size matters. I didn’t know this for either of my other two babies. But the flange needs to fit your nipple properly in order to be the most efficient at getting your milk out. Once size does NOT fit all.

Bonus tip: Hands free pumping bra without spending the $

Okay so I can try to explain my secret trick I like to use here, but it’ll be SO much easier for you to see a full on demonstration. Just watch the video above and skip to the 2:57 mark and I show you exactly how to create your own hands free pump “bra” using a nursing tank or nursing bra that you most likely already have.

How to assemble it and how to use it

Again, trying to explain how to put this pump together and how to use it via text is just super confusing. Jump back up to the video above and fast forward to to the 3:50 mark and I’ll walk you through it.

If you’ve been in the market for a pump, or have had your eye on the SmartPump 2.0, I hope this post helped!
